My journey into East Asian medicine started in 1994 when I started practicing Wu Style Tai folllowed by four years training in Japanese shiatsu bodywork. Keen to learn more I studied Traditional Chinese acupuncture and undertook a clinical apprenticeship. I then studied a number of specialised Japanese acupuncture systems in the UK and Europe. Whilst running a busy practice, I worked in NHS pain and addiction clinics. Since 2011 I have been travelling regularly to Japan to observe and train intesively in the clinics of master practitioner Masakazu Ikeda sensei and Edward Obaidey who practice Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. I am enormously grateful to them for sharing their deep knowledge and understanding of this powerful healing art. I offer support to the art by organising post-graduate workshops, and I am part of the publishing team for the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine and the editorial team for the English publications of Ikeda Masakazu sensei’s teachings. I now specialise in degenerative eye diseases using MA48 and Boel Acupuncture.
